The memories of Faidra's guests are the best, due to rare location and the great hospitality of Faidra's people.

Here are some comments from the customers' reviews book that our business keeps:

• Thank you for sharing your beautiful "home" with us. We will remember our time in Tsoutsouros forever.

• Vacations far away from the spirit of the modern age, time travel and original humanity, always accompanied by gastronomic delights. Whatever can be said about the hospitality of Mrs Morfoula and Mr. Manolis is not enough.

• I do not feel that I am in a foreign house. It's mine. My brothers, Mrs Morfoula and Mr. Manolis having the gift of hospitality, make you feel safe and peaceful.

Mata

• Crystal clear sea, smooth sand, beloved Faidra. The smile and the always warm words of Mrs Morfoula. The willingness and the jokes of Mr. Manolis. The good morning coming straight from the heart. The endlessly delicious vegetables and delicacies from the hands of Mrs Morfoula. The cool and pure raki, the laughter, the songs under the starry sky overlooking the Libyan Sea. All this gave another meaning to the word VACATIONS. This house, this place stand motionless heirs of ancient and genuine hospitality.

• 4th time enjoying the hospitality of Faidra and you have become the second family in our hearts. Hearted, hospitable, warm and smiling. It used to be the hallmark of tourism in Crete, but now this is rare... In the best part of Tsoutsouras, in the best location of our southern Crete ...

Victoria

• Thanks for the innate hospitality in your home. We felt immediately welcomed in this corner of Crete. Warm-hearted and happy, but with discreet and respect to the visitor.

• We were looking for a room overlooking the Libyan Sea and what a happy coincidence ... The most beautiful balcony of Inatos was available. Together we found your great hospitality! Thank you

About us

Morfoula-Arxavli

Manolis-Arxavlis

Faidra Apartments opened in the summer of 2005 and welcomes visitors from Greece and abroad that spend their holidays at the beach of Tsoutsouras.

With a warm smile and willingness you will be greeted by Mrs Morfoula and her husband Manolis.

"We started to build the apartments for personal use and for the use of our family, but the visitors of the area saw them and were asking us to rent them. So I started to get enchanted by the idea of hospitality. We receive pleasure from the client and from his own pleasure ... " Ms. Morfoula narrates.

The dedication to the customer, the grooming and the discreet care are elements that characterize her and her husband, who helps with treats and grooming. "I like to give my soul to people in order to see the pleasure on their smile" says Mrs Morfoula.

This is the biggest of all the advantages that this "small pension" (as it is characterized by her) provides, the warmth, the authenticity and the hospitality of its owners.

Our name

Alexandre-Cabanel-Phedre

Our name comes from Faidra, who was the daughter of king Minos and Pasiphae, younger sister of Ariadne. She married Theseus after his previous wife had died, and bore him two sons: Acamantas and Demophon. The couple lived as king and queen of Athens, and Faidra kept herself busy with the court affairs and building temples.

After Theseus had killed the sons of Pallas, he had to go to Troizen for purification. Faidra came along and settled in quarters over- looking the stadium. There, she saw Theseus son Hippolytos excercising naked every day, and fell madly in love. On this spot, where she would spy on him a temple to Artemis Catascopia (the Spy) would be built.

Desperate to have him, Faidra wrote a long letter to Hippolytos, declaring her feelings for him and how badly the women of her family had been treated by men. She told him not to worry about the incest, even the gods had incestuous relationship.

Hippolytos rejected Faidra, disgusted with her flirtation. We do not know exactly how the story ends, but according to one version Faidra cried rape and hanged herself. According to another Hippolytos was killed for raping her, but Theseus found out the truth and reconciliated with his son before he died. Then, Faidra commited suicide.
